Vote on Covert Farm wind turbine application    23 September, 2013

The PC voted unanimously to object once again to the planning application for a single wind turbine at Covert Farm, East Haddon. Key points raised were -

  • the village and land surrounding it is a designated special landscape area and the wind turbine would adversely impact the 'character of the local landscape'
  • the noise pollution report submitted showed that the turbine fails the tests for noise pollution for at least one nearby property and is marginal for several others
  • the installation could create a potential hazard being so close to the major road A428 which has already seen several serious accidents in the area and is known to be an accident blackspot.
  • The bat report has been objected to by Northants Bat Group and there appears to be a second ecology report that has yet to be submitted. The council was very concerned about the negative impact on the bat population.
