East Haddon Parish Council News

The Parish Council met on Thursday 21st June, 2012.

The meeting was brought forward from the advertised date of 5th July. Five councillors attended including a newly co-opted councillor, Marysia Wells. The council approved the co-option of an additional parishioner, Joanna Askew, who will join the council at its next meeting in September. There are still two places to be filled – please contact either Jane Wade, Chairman, or Fiona Keable, Clerk, if you are interested.

Two parishioners attended to express concerns about the application for a ‘static’ fish and chip van licence in the village. The van would be parked for up to 11 hours on one day a week near the bus stop in Main Street. The council agreed to send a letter objecting to the application but also stating that a mobile van trading for approximately one hour a week could be seen as more acceptable.

The council agreed to a plan to replace 17 streetlight lanterns in Holdenby Road and 5 full streetlight installations in Priestwell Court in this financial year. The remainder to be upgraded would take place in the 2013/2014 financial year.

The council set out its priorities for this financial year as follows:

  • Streetlight replacement
  • Speeding vehicles
  • Cemetery maintenance.

The council had no comments to make about the Brookhill Cottage planning application and the clerk reported no development as yet regarding the Covert Farm wind turbine application.

The full minutes for this meeting will be posted on the website and in the village notice-boards immediately after being approved at the next meeting, which will be on Thursday  September 6th at 7:30 and will start in the cemetery.
